All generations of citizens of Kragujevac think of Big Park as the most favorite place to go for a walk. It was formed in 1898 and on its 110th birthday it was completely renewed. It is covered with more than 10 acres of greenery, and thick centennial tree crowns, renewed walking paths and new benches represent a perfect place for resting, walking and relaxation.
In the Big Park and its vicinity you can find courts for basketball, football, volleyball, tennis, American football and handball courts, opened and covered swimming pools, balloon hall, as well as great number of restaurants.
Small or Lower Park
Small or Lower Park is situated in the very center of the city, within the complex Milosev venac, next to the City market. Park is a small area, with arranged flower beds and paths. In its central part is located the Monument to soldiers from Sumadija.
Eco – park “Ilina voda”
This park is a legacy of Svetozar Andrejevic, given to the eternal enjoyment to the citizens of Kragujevac in 1900. Recently, thanks to the voluntary work of the citizens and the members of the Eco-park society, this space has been turned into the true little oasis.
On the area of over 7 acres, there are benches, swings, seesaws and other accessories, as well as basketball and football courts. A 3.5 meters high fountain with cascades was built, as well as five mini lakes connected with one small, 90 meters long stream. Currently there is a mini zoo, which holds 100 small animals, and its expansion is planned. There’s also a big summer stage. The park is enriched with arboretum- a garden that consists of various types of conifers and deciduous trees, typical for Sumadija. The curiosity of the park is the largest Easter egg sculpture in Europe, and the second in the world; it is made of recycled metal and over 3m high. It was set in 2004.
The park in Pivara
Near the city center, on the Pivara hill (where the first breweries in Kragujevac were), is the park with walking paths, children playground and a course for team sports. It’s considered that, with current and future reconstructions, it will again become the favorite place for resting and recreation of the citizens of this part of Kragujevac.
